2026 Senior State Cup Wrap Up

The 2026 Junior State Cup delivered three massive days of elite Oztag, on and off the field, with another hugely successful event on the Sunshine Coast.

Across four precincts, the tournament featured:
• 160+ teams
• 500+ games
• 80+ referees
• 45 officials

All coming together to chase state glory

A massive congratulations to every player who took the field throughout the weekend and competed at such a high standard. Huge credit also goes to our referees and officials, whose professionalism and commitment ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish. There was some fantastic skill on display over the weekend which makes us excited about the TRI SERIES that we have coming up in June.

This year’s Senior State Cup saw athletes travel from Townsville in the north to the Tweed Coast in the south, and the Gympie Gladiators making their Senior State Cup debut.

The 2026 Senior State Cup highlighted the depth and strength of senior Oztag across Queensland, with eight different clubs claiming premiership success throughout the tournament.

Grand Final action featured a strong mix of established and emerging clubs, with Miami, Labrador, Coomera, Redcliffe, Wavell Heights, Springfield, Townsville, Moorooka and Maroochydore all represented across the 13 divisions, reflecting the competitive balance and high standard on display.

Miami continued their strong presence, advancing to six Grand Finals and securing four premiership victories as well as 5 MVP Awards. Coomera also enjoyed a successful campaign, claiming two titles.

Wavell Heights, Maroochydore, Moorooka, Redcliffe, Labrador and Townsville also claimed premiership success, highlighting strong campaigns across the board.

Congratulation to the Gympie Gladiators who competed in their first ever Senior State Cup, entering two divisions; the premier Open Mixed and also Senior Mixed.

Much like the Grand Final results, MVP honours were shared across the competition, with winners coming from six different clubs.
